Standard camera most often used in economical CCTV systems use a fixed focal length 3.6 or 4mm lens and can not be adjusted. For observation views, this focal length may be fine, but for camera views requiring more detail, a variable focal length (allows for fine tuning of camera focus) is recommended.
Standard cameras often used in economical CCTV systems use a fixed postion 700tvl or lower CCD camera. For observation views an analog camera may be fine, but for camera views requiring more detail, a 1080p camera is recommended.
960H is a new standard for security cameras and security DVRs that provide high resolution images using advanced image sensors. Security camera capable of 960H produce an image that is 960 horizontal and 480 vertical pixels large (960x480). Cameras and DVRs capable of recording at this resolution provide superior images that are 34% larger then D1 and more than 500% larger than CIF (Common Intermediate Format). A 2MP system will give you a 200% increase in resolution over a 960H system.
